Designing the brand and exhibition visual language that is synonymis with a sustainable, tech forward fashion label.

So… we launched a fashion label. Literally, an entirely new brand – from identity to materials to manufacturing to distribution – for tech giant SAP.

What began as scripting dozen-page narratives after piling on tons of research on the latest sustainability practices in the denim industry ended with full blown 2D and 3D animations, programming interactive vignettes, fabricating robots, and aligning the backend controls for a totally seamless experience. And putting it all together in 12 weeks. Plus 10 international markets, including Mexico City, Beijing, and Tokyo. At the same time.

At Kommune-NoSlate, I was given the role to create not only the brand identity for said fictitious fashion label (which included its overall clothing and aesthetic) but a handsome graphics system which would be the future building blocks for the exhibition design, identity, graphics, video content, installations, interactive experiments and sound design.

Utilizing a signature red and three slashes that depicts the roman numeral three, it also represents the smallest but arguably most important detail in denim: the stitch. “Tril” for short, we created a bold motion language that works across all scales of media, from the small screen to 100ft tall video screens.

These are some samples of the visual system and type explorations that were created for both the brand and exhibition, which were later distributed to KNS’s programming and fabricating partners who were also contributing to the experience.
